Pokemon 30th Celebration: What Is Actually In It, and What to Pre-order in Thailand

The Pokemon Trading Card Game launched in Japan in 1996. 30th Celebration is the set marking three decades of it, and it does something the TCG has never done before: it releases worldwide on exactly the same day, 16 September 2026, in English, Japanese and Chinese at once.

That matters more than it sounds. Normally a Japanese set lands months before its English counterpart, and collectors in Thailand spend that gap deciding whether to buy the Japanese version now or wait. This time there is no gap and no decision to make. Everyone opens the same set on the same morning.

The English main set runs to 128 cards, climbing to roughly 150 once the secret rares are counted. The Japanese edition covers the same ground in 103 cards with its own numbering, so the two are not card-for-card equivalents even though they arrive together.

There is no reverse-holo slot in this set, because there is nothing to contrast against: every card is foil, right down to the basic energy. A stack of 30th Celebration cards looks unlike any other modern set laid out next to it.

A booster pack holds five foil cards, one foil basic energy, one Pikachu card and a Pokemon TCG Live code.

That Pikachu is the part people will talk about. There are thirty different Pikachu cards in the set, each drawn by a different illustrator, and one appears in every single pack. You are not chasing a Pikachu, you are collecting a set of thirty interpretations of the same Pokemon, one per artist.

30th Celebration introduces Futuristic Rare, abbreviated FUR, and it is exclusive to this set. The finish was designed by Japanese illustrator YOSHIROTTEN and reads as a vivid, almost iridescent treatment that does not look like any existing rarity tier.

Two cards carry it: Mewtwo ex and Mew ex. Both are widely expected to be the most valuable cards in the set, for the obvious reason that a rarity which exists in one set and nowhere else has a scarcity story built into it.

Whether that expectation holds is a different question, and worth being honest about. New rarities usually spike at release and settle afterwards. If you want a Futuristic Rare because you like how it looks, buy it. If you want one because you are convinced it only goes up, understand that nobody knows the print run yet.

Alongside the main set sits a Classic Collection of thirty reprinted cards, drawn from across the history of the game. The headline is the Base Set Charizard, the card that made the hobby what it is, reprinted for the anniversary. Cards such as Pikachu and Zekrom-GX from the Sun and Moon era are in there too.

These are reprints and they are labelled as such, so they will not be mistaken for originals. That is worth saying plainly: a Classic Collection Charizard is not a 1999 Charizard and will never trade like one. What it is, is the artwork most collectors cannot afford in its original printing, made obtainable.

Classic Collection packs are their own product and carry a smaller card count than the main-set boosters.

Confirmed so far, with the caveat that spoilers were still landing when this was written:

• Mewtwo ex, Futuristic Rare, 230 HP Psychic
• Mew ex, Futuristic Rare, the counterpart card
• Pikachu ex in two versions, 149/128 Pika-Pika Parade and 150/128 Zip-Zap Frenzy, a day and a night treatment, 190 HP each
• Jirachi ex, Metal type, 160 HP
• Salamence ex and Greninja ex, both confirmed present
• Two Pikachu ex Secret Illustration Rares at numbers 149 and 150
• Illustration Rares numbered 131 to 145, among them Lapras 131, Drifloon 136, Lycanroc 138 and Hisuian Zorua 145

What is not confirmed: pull rates, print run size, and how widely the set will be distributed in this region. Anyone quoting you odds right now is guessing.

Five 30th Celebration products are open for pre-order at Kira Cards. They serve different goals, so the honest answer depends on what you actually want.

• Elite Trainer Box, 4,290 THB. The most packs in one purchase plus the accessories. This is the buy if you want to open properly and give yourself real odds at the chase cards. Retailer listings put the standard edition at nine boosters plus an Illustration Rare Nidorina promo.
• Greninja ex Box and Sylveon ex Box, 2,490 THB each. One promo card, one oversize version of the same card, four boosters. The cheapest way into sealed product with a guaranteed named card, and the two designs are genuinely different pulls rather than a colour swap.
• Binder Collection, 3,490 THB. An anniversary binder plus sealed packs. This is the one to buy if your plan is to build the thirty-Pikachu run and you want somewhere proper to put it.
• Poster Collection, 1,990 THB. The entry point, built around a large poster roughly 27 by 39 inches with promo cards of Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres.

If you are buying one thing and you want to open it, take the Elite Trainer Box. If you are buying one thing and you want to keep it sealed, take whichever product you would be happiest never opening, because that is the one you will not talk yourself out of.

You pay in full when you reserve. That is what holds the unit against your name rather than against a queue.

Fulfilment follows the date our shipment actually lands, not the date on the press release. Distribution into Thailand runs a few days behind a worldwide street date, and it can be up to a week past 16 September before stock is in the shop. We would rather tell you that now than have you refreshing a tracking page on release morning.

The Binder Collection is on a later wave, 2 October, so it will arrive separately from the rest.

Collect in Patong or have it shipped anywhere in Thailand. Delivery is a flat 60 baht with tracking, free above 3,900 baht, and every order comes with a proper tax invoice.

It is not a competitive set. Nobody is building a tournament deck out of 30th Celebration, and that is not a criticism, it is what an anniversary release is for.

It is also not guaranteed to appreciate. Anniversary sets are printed to meet demand from people who have been waiting three decades for exactly this, which usually means printed heavily. Celebrations, the 25th anniversary set, is the closest comparison and it did not behave like a scarce set.

Buy it because the artwork is the best reason to buy Pokemon cards, and because a set where every card is foil and every pack has a different Pikachu is a genuinely good thing to open. That reason holds up regardless of what the market does afterwards.
